Doubletree by Hilton Bristol City Centre is near to Temple Meads station. It also claims to be a four star hotel, but I’m not convinced. The room we had was a superior (to nothing) room, which was quite small. It had a double bed which was fairly small but comfortable, a mini chaise longue, and a small bath tub with a reasonably powerful shower.

There was a TV with freeview channels and tea making facilities, but no fridge or bottled water. Wifi was free but terrible and cut out repeatedly.

We did end getting some bottled water, because the water from the taps was running yellow-brown; I rang reception and they explained that some maintenance had happened earlier, affecting the pipes, and they agreed to send some bottles. Bad that they didn’t mention it before I went to drink it. Staff were generally friendly, but overall the room was disappointing.

Cobwebs, Doubletree, Bristol

There were also quite a few cobwebs on the ceiling! It’s the second time I have used a Doubletree, and I don’t think I will use them again – the first time was in Luxembourg and the price of wifi plus breakfast was actually more than the cost of the room. Here was less chiselling, but poor value for money.

Parking on site was £12.50 per day, which at least they informed me of in advance. Breakfast was £10 per person, and was a western buffet. It was fine, if slightly limited.
