Actually, soursop, and drinks flavoured with it, is not exactly rare in Asia, but it is virtually unheard of in the UK. It looks likes a spiky avocado, but a lot bigger and unevenly shaped. In Malaysia it is known as durian Belanda, or Dutch durian, but I am happy to report it doesn’t taste or smell anything like durian. It is instead a sweet and sour fruit, which is delicious. Polygold’s drink is a good demonstration of the fruit, being thick, sticky, sweet and a little sharp, perhaps describable as a cross between strawberry, banana and pineapple. Will definitely try to find this again.
