Mei Lin Healthy restaurant is a Chinese vegetarian place in Melaka Raya, a couple of km from town. It’s tucked away so it could be difficult to find, but it’s worth the effort.
Inside the decor is a tiny bit nicer than other similar places, with a highlight for me being the traditional Peranakan painted wooden screen, with a few cranes and a lot of gold. It serves a wide range of Chinese veggie dishes, including snacks, rice and noodle dishes, mushroom, mock meat and fish, and steamboat. The staff are friendly, though their English is a little limited. The food was good, and good value for money, and I will return.
I had rendang and rice, which was good but not the best example of its kind, plus satay sticks which were delicious with a very good sweet peanut sauce. You actually get 5 sticks, but I ate 2 before I remembered to take the featured pic!
Address: 98, Jalan Melaka Raya 25
Directions: It’s actually across the main road from the main bit of Taman Melaka Raya – enter this, then take a right at the T junction and it is on your right, opposite the junction on the left.
