Zaberdast is a small place near East Croydon station, which sells ‘Indian wraps’. These are pretty much burritos with some sort of Indian filling, either meat or vegetarian, for a flat rate of £4.95. It’s actually a small chain, with another 3 outlets in London.
The vegetarian range is very good, with five choices being cheese (halloumi or paneer), curry (potato) or patty (tikki or felafel), and there are eight meat options. Choose whether you want plain or wholemeal flour tortilla, a filling, a salad choice and sauce, and it is made for you fresh.
I tried the vegetable tikki – small lightly spiced patties – with tamarind sauce and some vegetables and chilli. Really nice. I will almost certainly head back at some point to try the other veggie options.
The staff were business like, as it was very busy when I visited because the shop is pretty popular with local office workers.
I took my food away, but there is a small outside seating area shared with what seems to be their sister business, Behtareen (a takeaway curry tub business, which looks alright). It is open from 08.00-18.00, Monday to Friday.
