I knew Wray and Nephew as a rum distiller, including some rum creams (like a Jamaican Bailey’s), but didn’t know they made wine drinks too. This ‘aperitif’ nestled between the beers in a local off licence drew my eye, so I thought I would try it.

Red Label Aperitif

Weighing at wine strength, it looks like port when poured, but a little thinner. It tastes like a cross between flat Coke, Campari, 5 spice, and mulled wine. It isn’t actually unpleasant, but I have struggled to think of a reason to drink it again. Any suggestions?
