This quirky small chain has a presence at 4 malls across Singapore. It serves an interesting range of Korean food, including table BBQ, and the kidney bean bingsoo the shop is named for. The decor is fun, with extracts of Korean background, and the staff were friendly except for one stern uncle who seemed to disapprove of me.

Euljiro bingsoo was strawberry cheesecake bingsoo. Here this was frozen local cheesecake (like sponge cake with cream cheese instead of butter), fresh strawberries and syrup, plus a yakult like sauce. We both loved it. The orange marmalade bingsoo was sold out, which we would have had, but strawberry cheesecake was a delicious consolation.

Wife had the fried samgyeobsal, which were battered and fried crispy strips of pork. She said they were very crunchy and a little salty with a good mustard sauce.

The kitchen made me a special version of tteok carbonara without meat. Tteok are tubular rice cakes, 8 of which were served here in a sweetcorn soup with melted cheese. It was savoury and sweet together, and just needed a little bread to mop it all up.

It’s situated among many other food shops, so it’ll probably be a while before we try it again, but I’d be keen to head back to try more of the bingsoo!
