Dataran Bandaraya is on all the tourist maps as a must visit place. It’s the town square, though it’s a fair distance outside the town itself, and consists of a clock tower (quite pretty, even though when I went it had recently been repainted from a vibrant yellow to a dull grey) in front of a field. There is also an Arabic style portakabin which houses a gift shop. While I was there, there was a housing fair.

The square has slightly expensive parking just beside it; it is tricky to get to as it’s just off a couple of major highways in the city, so involves a few U turns.

I honestly cannot see why this is a must visit, unless it is to boost taxi trade in the town. If you have a picture of the tower in your guide book or map, leave it at that and don’t come here. Especially if the pic has the old, nice colour scheme.
