The Minster is a free house pub which does a large range of pub food classics like pies, sausage and mash, fish or gammon and chips, plus all day breakfast and fried snacks. It feels pretty traditional inside, with lots of nooks and crannies, mismatched chairs and tables, crazy wallpaper and half timbering, regency curtains, carpets in some areas and not others, and an ornate fireplace. It also has TVs showing sports and a few fruit machines.

It had a mature clientele when I was there for lunch, which might be due to being very close to the cathedral. Staff were fine. The food was substantial and ok value for money, while the range of beers was a little small for a free house.

Veggie all day breakfast was quorn sausages, hash browns, beans, eggs, toast, half a tomato and a mushroom. It was nothing special, but was fine for the money.
