If Only is a relatively new place (2019) in the embassy rich area of U Thant (named for the road which runs through it, itself named after the Burmese Secretary-General of the UN). It does breakfast early on and then a range of local and international meals, as befits the location. I’ve been a few times, but only eaten once so far.

Interior, If Only, Kuala Lumpur

It’s in a slightly colonial style, with lots of rattan and fake greenery, and it works quite well. The front is open to one of KL’s busiest roads, so is noisy and petrol fumed, particularly during traffic jams (which is most of the day on that road, sadly). If you have a small group, then use the side part of the restaurant.

Shakshuka, If Only, Kuala Lumpur

There wasn’t a huge choice for vegetarians at the time I went, but the two main dishes are both ones I like in principle! I had the shakshuka, which was a decent example of this baked tomato and egg dish, though it could have done with a little more in the way of spice and chilli. The accompanying bread was very good.

Clams, If Only, Kuala Lumpur

Wife had clams in a creamy ginger sauce. She thought the sauce was a little underpowered, and a bit runny. Again, the bread was very good.

Chicken, If Only, Kuala Lumpur

The spring chicken comes with vegetables in the form of stuffing. Apparently it was well seasoned but just a little dry, so could have done with more gravy.

Masala tea, If Only, Kuala Lumpur

I’ve just seen they have brought in a seasonal menu, which might make things a little more interesting. If Only is really convenient for work meetings/lunches for me, so I will probably head back and update this later.
